Cromática Pistona blends swing jazz, original songs and danceable funk, soul, ska jazz and surf rock.
Cromática Pistona are a Madrid band conceived as a popular swing jazz orchestra. Their live show pairs an elegant feel with plenty of energy for dancing. The set combines original songs, jazz standards and fresh arrangements of other tunes.
The full line-up features eight musicians: vocals, two guitars, bass, drums, trumpet, tenor saxophone and trombone. The group can adapt its format to different stages and settings while keeping its upbeat character. Depending on the setup, the technical requirements include amplification for bass and guitars, microphones for vocals and brass, and an acoustic drum kit.
Their early repertoire reworked covers in swing and ska jazz styles. Since then, original material has expanded their sound to include funk, soul, surf rock and bolero. Their influences range from the orchestras of Duke Ellington, Louis Prima, Ray Gelato and Fred Buscaglione to singers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and Sarah Vaughan.
The band can provide music for a wedding, drinks reception or concert where guests are welcome to dance. Its vocals, rhythm section and brass also bring a distinctive sound to parties and private celebrations.
