Soul System Band are a five-piece of professional musicians performing covers rooted in soul, funk and acid jazz. Their polished, powerful live sound suits celebrations where guests want to enjoy the music and dance. They perform across Spain and abroad.
The band features Esperanza Martin on vocals, Javier Barral on guitar, Javier Lozano on keyboards, Paco Yebra on bass and Ivan Diaz on drums. Their set draws on 1970s Black music, with artists and groups including Chaka Khan, Marcus Miller, Incognito, The Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai, Earth, Wind & Fire, Patrice Rushen and Grover Washington. CeCe Peniston is also among their influences, alongside covers such as “Killing Me Softly”, “Just the Two of Us” and “Finally”.
The musicians have worked with artists including Carlos Baute, Mónica Naranjo, Jamiroquai and Hevia. A performance can run for up to two hours. The band has its own stage equipment and PA system. The stated requirements include direct stage access, a 6 × 3 metre stage and a 220 V power supply.
Soul System Band can play at weddings, celebrations, private parties and conventions looking for live soul and funk covers. They performed at the Tangier Jazz Festival in September 2015.
