A women’s percussion group blending Afro-Brazilian rhythms, choreography and audience interaction, available for processions, floor performances or the stage.
We are a booking agency for events, not the artist's team. We work with organisers: festivals, councils, companies, venues and weddings.
Shambaiala is an all-female percussion group combining live rhythms with animation and choreographed movement. The line-up can range from a smaller ensemble to as many as 14 percussionists, with formats suited to different spaces and celebrations.
Choose a street procession, a performance among a stationary audience or a stage show. The stage version includes poetic spoken passages inspired by water, earth, fire and air. It requires sound support for a headset microphone and lighting able to create orange, blue, red and white atmospheres. The group also needs a room for changing and make-up; water is required for the procession format.
Afro-Brazilian rhythms sit alongside funk, samba, maracatu, swing and other African-influenced styles. Surdos, caixas, repiques, agogô and timbas provide the percussion, while choreography and audience interaction are central to the performance.
The choice of procession, audience-level or stage format makes Shambaiala suitable for town festivals and other events looking for percussion with a lively visual element.
