Malström is the project of Alfonso Rodríguez, a DJ and producer with 15 years’ experience in music and events. His sets draw on 16 cutting-edge electronic styles and can be shaped around the occasion and different moments in the day. He brings professional equipment, including a sound system suited to indoor audiences of up to 300 people.
Malström can provide music for corporate events, parties, shows, branding activations, fashion or sporting events, themed dinners and Ecstatic Dance sessions. His musical background ranges from Beethoven, Handel and Shostakovich to 1980s technopop and the electronic work of Jean Michel Jarre and Vangelis. Wim Mertens and lesser-known artists are also among his influences. His current focus is on newer and more forward-looking electronic styles.
Alongside DJ work, he has composed and produced music, run the Solemnis music school for eight years, represented classical music groups and orchestras, managed the Flamingo nightclub and founded the 8hz association for emerging musicians. He also created Malström Music Library, featuring music composed for advertising.
