La Macanita, the stage name of Tomasa Guerrero Carrasco, is a flamenco singer with roots in Jerez de la Frontera. Her singing honours traditional forms and is known for its expressive depth. She can suit weddings, public festivals, corporate functions and private celebrations looking for live flamenco.
Her repertoire draws on Jerez styles such as bulerías, seguiriyas and soleás. The performance stays close to flamenco tradition while bringing strong emotional expression to the cante. Songs associated with her work include “Adiós tristeza”, “El corazón tras la puerta” and “Jerez”.
La Macanita began singing as a child and gave her first recital at fourteen. Two years later, she made her debut in Madrid’s tablaos. Manuel Morao and Manolo Sanlúcar have featured in different stages of her career, bringing her into their shows and recordings. Her first solo album, “A la luna nueva”, came out in 1989. Since then, she has performed at flamenco venues and festivals in Spain and abroad.
