José Mercé brings flamenco singing together with blues influences, martinete and flamenco versions of well-known songs.
We are a booking agency for events, not the artist's team. We work with organisers: festivals, councils, companies, venues and weddings.
José Mercé is a leading flamenco singer from a long line of cantaores. He began performing in flamenco venues at a young age, later worked with Antonio Gades’s company and collaborated with musicians including Paco de Lucía, Manolo Sanlúcar, Tomatito, Enrique Melchor and Vicente Amigo.
His performance draws on traditional flamenco while making room for other musical influences. His career includes the albums Del amanecer and Aire, the latter achieving double platinum status, as well as Mercé Sinfónico, a project with Partiture Philharmonic Orchestra.
His approach blends flamenco with elements of blues and martinete. He is also known for flamenco interpretations of songs by Manu Chao, Luis Eduardo Aute, Víctor Jara, Louis Armstrong and Pablo Milanés. Titles associated with his repertoire include «Aire», «Del amanecer», «La vida sale», «Mammy Blue» and «Tu frialdad».
José Mercé may suit celebrations and festivals looking for live flamenco, as well as weddings, cultural programmes and corporate events where this kind of musical performance fits.
