Ironical, surreal comedy in a 70-minute monologue, plus a small-scale theatre piece for a range of venues.
Jorge “El Maestro” Benavent has performed comedy on radio and in venues and theatres for a wide range of audiences. His style blends irony, everyday situations and imagination, with a surreal edge that often lets spectators recognise something of themselves in the material.
He currently offers two formats: a comedy monologue and a small-scale theatre production designed for different kinds of venues. The monologue runs for 70 minutes and is intended for all ages. It requires a microphone, stand and stool.
His material includes a fear of exotic animals, his first business and the difficulties he faced during the financial crisis. Shows include “Los locos casos del detective Benavent”, “Míralo por el lado bueno”, “Todo es un poco Trash” and “La gallina guineana”. His influences include Manu Badenes, Rafa Forner and Juan Carlos Córdoba.
The formats may suit town fiestas, corporate events, weddings and private celebrations looking for comedy for a broad audience. The choice between the monologue and theatre piece depends on the venue and occasion.
