Joana Jiménez performs copla and Spanish songs, drawing on a career shaped by flamenco.
We are a booking agency for events, not the artist's team. We work with organisers: festivals, councils, companies, venues and weddings.
Joana Jiménez is a Spanish singer whose work is rooted in copla and flamenco. Her musical repertoire can bring live performance to weddings, town fiestas, private celebrations and corporate events. She came to wider attention after winning the first series of Canal Sur’s music competition Se llama copla.
She began singing copla as a child and studied music at Seville’s higher conservatoire. She later worked as a flamenco singer with several companies and took part in musical projects abroad. Her 2009 album Salvaora brought copla together with less familiar rhythms. She went on to premiere the show Voz de fuego at Seville’s Teatro Lope de Vega and release Las flores de mi esperanza. Her recorded work also includes Joana Jiménez and Como el primer día, an album of Spanish song versions.
Tracks associated with her repertoire include “Miéntete”, “Cómo escapar de tu piel”, “El jardín prohibido”, “No quiero saber de ti”, “Duele” and “Agua pasada”. The blend of copla, flamenco and Spanish music may suit a wedding or celebration seeking a solo voice in this tradition.
