Estudio 80 are a covers band focused on 1980s pop and rock, performing songs in both Spanish and English. Their live set suits festivals, private celebrations, weddings and corporate events looking for familiar music from the decade.
Formed in Guadalajara in April 2004, the line-up features Jose de Lucas on vocals and guitar, Kike Carretero on bass, Carlos de Lucas on guitar and vocals, Javier de Juan on drums, and Eduardo Ramirez on guitar and backing vocals. Javier de Juan has been a member of Mecano and La Década; Eduardo Ramirez has been part of Cadillac. The band has performed tributes to 1980s music and to Enrique Urquijo, Carlos Berlanga and Antonio Vega at venues including Clamores, Siroco and Mármara.
Their repertoire and influences include Nacha Pop, Los Secretos, Mamá, Radio Futura, Cadillac, La Frontera, Tam Tam Go!, The Police, Queen, U2, Ramones, The Knack and Dire Straits. Sound and lighting equipment can also be included. The performance requires a nearby 220 V power socket.
