Los Secretos is one of the most emblematic bands of Spanish pop rock, with origins dating back to 1978, when the brothers Enrique, Álvaro and Javier Urquijo formed the group Tos alongside drummer Canito. Following his death in 1980, the tribute concert held in his honour marked a turning point: it was there that the name Los Secretos was officially born, becoming one of the pillars of the Movida madrileña.
Throughout the 80s and 90s they released essential works such as La calle del olvido (1989) and Cambio de planes, consolidating an unmistakable style that blends melodic pop, rock and sensitively crafted lyrics. In 1995 they released Dos caras distintas and later Grandes éxitos, a compilation that confirmed their weight within Spanish music.
The death of Enrique Urquijo was a hard blow for the band and for Spanish pop. In 2000 they released A tu lado – Un homenaje a Enrique Urquijo, featuring leading artists such as Carlos Goñi, Ariel Rot, Manolo Tena and Luz, among others, reaffirming the band's enormous influence.
With more than four decades of career, Los Secretos remain a generational reference, with songs that are part of the country's collective memory.
