Carlos Ruiz Morales and Christian Casariego Moreno make up C Y C Flamenco, a dance company founded in 2020. In Tiempo, the pair connect stages of life with different forms of flamenco. The production was designed for auditoriums, performance rooms and indoor venues, and can be adapted to other settings.
The show moves from childhood to death, pairing each stage with a flamenco form. Bulerías accompany childhood; garrotines represent adolescence; farruca stands for adulthood; soleá evokes old age, and seguiriya brings the journey to a close. Through dance, Carlos and Christian share their emotions and their perspective on life.
The company also has a wider repertoire for creating a different kind of show. Carlos began training at the Real Conservatorio de Danza Mariemma aged seven and is studying Spanish Dance at the Conservatorio de Danza Carmen Amaya. Christian started his career with Emilio Serrano and also trained at Carmen Amaya. Both have appeared in performances and cultural venues, and worked with artists and companies.
Tiempo is suitable for audiences of all ages, particularly those with an interest in flamenco. It can work in cultural programmes, private celebrations, weddings and events with an adaptable performance space. The production calls for technical planning: the preferred stage measures 10–12 by 7–8 metres, though other dimensions can be accommodated, and four people are on stage. Lighting, a lighting technician and specified sound equipment are also part of the technical setup.
