A vocal group that recreates instruments with their voices, performing Cuban music, son, bolero, reggae, pop and more.
Vocal Tempo builds its sound using voices: the members recreate the sounds of band instruments vocally, performing with microphones. The result is an ensemble sound that suggests a range of instruments without bringing them on stage. It can add a distinctive feel to a party, celebration or event looking for live vocal music.
The group features Roberto Carballo, Pino del Pino, Luis Sotolongo, Jorge Rodríguez and Karel Méndez. Its artistic concept combines their voices to create a full group arrangement. Its influences include leading figures in Cuban music and music from around the world.
The repertoire covers Cuban son, son-salsa, vallenato, trova, cha-cha-cha, bolero, reggae, rock and roll, jazz, ranchera and pop fusion. Songs include “Moliendo Café”, “Vereda tropical”, “Sin ti”, “Rock Around the Clock” and “In the Mood”. This range gives the performance a variety of rhythms and styles. Sound and lighting are arranged according to the technical rider.
