Varekai blend classic and progressive rock with flamenco touches and an Andalusian influence, playing original material.
Formed in Albolote, Granada, in 2014, Varekai are a rock band with a sound rooted in Andalusia. Their original material draws on classic and progressive rock, with flamenco touches. A defined visual identity and a forceful stage presence shape a set designed to connect with a broad rock audience.
The five-piece line-up features lead vocals, drums, two guitars and bass, with backing vocals from several members. The lead voice has a flamenco edge. Songs move between quieter passages and heavier sections, with enveloping melodies, extended instrumental development and introspective lyrics.
Varekai perform their own songs rather than a covers set. Their influences include international acts such as Pink Floyd, King Crimson and Genesis, alongside Andalusian rock bands Triana, Alameda and Medina Azahara. Their debut album, Me Siento Vivo, was released in 2022.
The band could suit local festivals, public celebrations and private events looking for original rock performed live. For a wedding or corporate event, consider how their sound fits the wider programme.
