A four-piece rumba and salsa group with flamenco guitar, cajón, piano, Latin percussion, humour and a dance-friendly set.
The Perets bring four musicians together for a live set of rumba, Latin rhythms and plenty of humour. The group began as a tribute to Peret and Catalan rumba; their current show blends Spanish rumba with Latin music in a relaxed, audience-friendly format built for dancing.
Carlos Garnacho sings and plays flamenco cajón. Chuchi “Manera” Monja plays flamenco guitar and sings backing vocals; Arturo Puras plays electric piano and sings backing vocals; Francisco “El Púa” Posac handles Latin percussion and also contributes vocals. Piano and percussion give the quartet a sound that moves between rumba and salsa.
The set runs for more than an hour and a half, covering classic rumba from the 1980s and 1990s, songs from the 2000s and current tracks with Latin influences. Their references include Los Chichos, Los Chunguitos, Kiko Veneno, Los Manolos, Peret, Gato Pérez and Ketama, as well as Melendi, Estopa, El Barrio, Marc Anthony, Luis Fonsi, Shakira and Carlos Vives. Ranchera, rock and 1980s covers may also feature. The show includes comedy and a mini karaoke segment.
The group can shape the show for younger or older audiences. It suits weddings, private parties, village festivals, stag and hen parties, bars and live music venues. The technical set-up requires a 220 V power socket.
