Ropavieja are a rock trio from Vega Baja, with original songs, direct lyrics and influences from the 1970s to the 1990s.
Ropavieja are a rock trio from Vega Baja in Alicante. Their sound combines a distinctive approach, socially minded lyrics and a forceful live performance. The line-up features vocals and guitar, bass and drums, bringing their material to the stage for parties, weddings and other events.
The band perform original songs shaped by a spirit of musical reuse: some revisit earlier compositions, while others take a song and give its music a complete overhaul. This creative approach sits alongside lyrics that address contemporary society in a direct way.
Their rock draws on Spanish and international bands from the 1970s, 80s and 90s. Named songs include “Rutina”, whose lyrics translate a Joy Division song; “Entre las Ruinas”, revived from the late-1980s band Los Reactores; “El Diablo”, inspired by Steven Spielberg’s film “Duel”; and “Las Cruces”, whose structure references Black Sabbath’s “Heaven & Hell”.
Carlos Martínez: vocals and guitar.
Marcos Martínez: bass.
Josemy Rufete: drums.
