Oscar Escalante mixes magic, comedy, clowning and mime in an original show for audiences of different ages.
Oscar Escalante brings magic and comedy together, drawing on clowning, mime, theatre and stand-up. He began performing at the age of six alongside his father and teacher, Balto, and has since developed his own shows for audiences of different ages. On stage, he moves between styles and techniques, blending humour with magical effects.
The performance can feature classic illusions reworked in his own style, including a snowstorm effect and a chain escape, both part of Spirit of Magic. The aim is to make the audience laugh while enjoying the magic. Oscar has performed at private parties, corporate events, regional television programmes and public bodies. His work also includes advising on TVE’s Un país mágico and appearing on RTVCYL programmes.
His artistic background includes acting, mime, clowning, scriptwriting and monologues. His accolades include the 2021 national street magic championship. Spirit of Magic premiered in 2009 and has been performed more than 300 times. In 2017, he gave over 120 performances.
The blend of humour and magic suits local festivals, private celebrations, corporate events and programmes for mixed-age audiences. Technical requirements include a 2 × 300 W sound system, portable Spider curtains up to 5 × 2 m, 2,000 W lighting, wireless microphones and a 220 V power supply.
