A string orchestra blends classical music, physical theatre and comedy in a distinctive live performance with an international track record.
Orthemis Orchestra takes chamber music into the world of physical theatre and comedy. The musicians perform and act at the same time, using their instruments as part of the scenes. Music and comic situations share the stage, creating a distinctive option for events looking for a live musical performance with a theatrical edge.
The string orchestra moves between classical music and lighter, playful moments. Its aim is to connect with audiences through emotion, entertainment and an introduction to music. The performers' versatility lets the show shift from a serious musical passage to a comic scene. Its productions include Tempo d'Umore and Desconcerto.
The company's stage language draws on influences such as La Cubana, Yllana, Mnozil Brass, and Igudesman and Joo. Orthemis Orchestra has performed more than 1,000 concerts across 45 countries on five continents and has received numerous awards throughout its career.
The show can suit cultural programmes, festivals and celebrations seeking live music with physical comedy. It offers an engaging choice for audiences who enjoy both musical performance and theatre, and for organisers looking for a format that entertains and surprises.
