Oriol Palau and Joan Escrivà rework well-known songs from different decades for two guitars, in jazz styles.
Guitarists Oriol Palau and Joan Escrivà perform as a duo, reshaping familiar songs from the 1930s to the present day through a jazz lens. Their two-guitar format can suit different moments at a wedding, private celebration or corporate event, with the selection able to lean towards older or more recent material.
Both musicians play guitar. On songs such as “Sunny” and “Isn't She Lovely”, the arrangement moves from the melody into improvisation and back again. Other pieces, including “Creep” and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain”, use altered harmonies and are played without improvisation.
The programme draws on jazz styles including swing and bossa. Its mix of familiar songs spanning several decades can be tailored towards a more classic or contemporary feel.
