Spanish rock comedy with social satire, parody covers and a theatrical live show featuring costumes and choreography.
Mejor Kallaos are a comedy rock band formed in Ciudad Real in the 1990s. Their live show brings together music, satire and theatrical staging, with costumes, choreography, dancing and acrobatic flourishes. The current line-up features founder Lorenzo Romero on guitar and vocals, Javier Solana on bass, Miguel Álvaro on vocals, Javier Gómez on drums and David Jiménez on guitar.
Their sound moves between pop, punk and rock, with touches of Spanish folk. The lyrics take a humorous look at social issues and everyday life, as well as familiar characters and musical clichés. They also rework well-known songs with parody lyrics. This makes them a good choice for audiences after a rock band with a strong comic and theatrical element.
Costume changes are part of the performance: the band may appear dressed as aliens, priests or flamenco dancers. They have recorded six releases, both in the studio and live, and have played hundreds of shows over three decades. Past shared bills include Rosendo, Mamá Ladilla, Barón Rojo, Celtas Cortos, Obús and Boikot.
Their format works well for town festivals, public celebrations and events looking for rock with humour and a lively stage presence. Sound provision can be discussed as part of the technical arrangements, with or without PA.
