A one-hour classical guitar recital featuring well-known works, performed on a ten-string concert guitar.
Manel García performs a solo concert centred on the classical guitar, in a format that brings the instrument and its music to the foreground. The recital lasts one hour and is played on a ten-string concert guitar, like the instrument used by Narciso Yepes. García studied classical guitar at the Salvador Seguí Conservatoire in Castellón, holds a master’s degree in philosophy and earned a doctorate in composition. He directs the Vallirana Classical Guitar Festival and combines teaching with concerts and multidisciplinary artistic projects.
The programme includes familiar works for guitar such as Romance Anónimo, Concierto de Aranjuez, Recuerdos de la Alhambra, Capricho Árabe, Asturias, Lágrima and Adelita. It may also feature Johann Sebastian Bach’s Prelude in D minor, alongside pieces titled Mi Favorita, Legend, Varsovia and Forever. García has composed around fifty works for guitar, orchestra and other instruments.
