Madrid musicians bringing New Orleans traditional jazz of the 1920s and 30s to the stage.
Madrid Hot Jazz Band brings traditional New Orleans jazz to the stage, drawing on the sound of the 1920s and 30s. The Madrid-based collective revives its spirit through lively, spontaneous music for audiences of all ages.
The line-up includes tenor and soprano saxophone, clarinet, banjo, tuba, trumpet and vocals, alongside drums and washboard. Swing rhythms and collective improvisation shape the performance.
Formed in early 2015, the band has played a range of venues and events. These include Las Noches Bárbaras at Madrid's Círculo de Bellas Artes, Madrid Lindy Exchange and Italy's Ferrara Buskers Festival, where it appeared as a guest band.
In July 2015, the band released That HOT Summer of '15, a seven-track EP featuring instrumental pieces and two vocal songs with regular collaborator Errukine Olaziregi. Its second release, Some like it HOT!, followed in April 2016 with six tracks and an expanded line-up featuring Kike Gil, David Herrington and Olaziregi.
The swing and spontaneity of New Orleans jazz make the music a fitting choice for parties and celebrations with audiences of different ages.
The band's traditional jazz instrumentation suits events looking for live ensemble music.
