Louisiana Dixieland brings hot jazz, swing and second line to parades, concerts and wedding celebrations.
Louisiana Dixieland are a six-piece band celebrating the roots of twentieth-century American street music. They can perform in parades and processions, play a stage concert, or provide music for wedding moments such as the walk out of church and the drinks reception.
The line-up brings together percussion, tuba, trombone, saxophone and trumpet. Their sound moves between hot jazz, swing and second line, with driving rhythms and improvisation. They also adapt modern jazz songs in the style of the 1920s, so the set reaches beyond traditional New Orleans repertoire.
Example swing numbers include “Hello Dolly”, “Five Foot” and “Down by the Riverside”. The second line selection includes “Do Watcha Wanna”, “I Feel Like Funky It Up” and “Here to Stay”. Their influences include Rebirth Brass Band, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Hot 8 Brass Band and Stooges Brass.
Small or indoor venues do not require external sound equipment. A stage concert, particularly outdoors or on a large stage, requires a PA, mixing desk, monitors, backline, cabling and a sound engineer.
