A ten-piece roaming band blending jazz, funk and ska with choreography and comic sketches for events and street celebrations.
Los Hombres de Carlos bring a roaming street show that combines live music, acting and comedy. The ten performers move with the crowd and can adapt to the event route, taking the performance through different areas as they go.
The line-up spans percussion, brass and woodwind. The sound includes snare and bass drum, helicon, trombone, trumpets, saxophones and clarinet. The band brings its own PA and a speaker. Prepared sketches and choreography add opportunities to engage with the audience.
The music ranges across jazz, funk, ska and other styles, drawing inspiration from the street bands of New Orleans. One of their formats is Galactic Brass, in which characters from another planet set out to conquer the town to a ska soundtrack.
The roaming format suits celebrations where people move between spaces. The performers bring their own equipment, so the organiser does not need to provide kit for the show.
