Lo Poloko blend rock, ska, cumbia, reggae, Balkan music and dub in a Latin-led sound they call Big Tropical Bang.
Lo Poloko are a collective of musicians with roots in Mexico, Chile, Spain, Italy and Portugal, brought together in Rotterdam. Their music starts from Latin influences and draws on a wide range of styles to shape a distinctive live sound.
Rock, ska, cumbia, reggae, Balkan music and dub come together in Big Tropical Bang, the name the band gives to its genre-crossing approach. The group are continually exploring new sounds and combining influences. Their debut album, Living la Covida Loca, was released in autumn 2023 and features 11 songs inspired by their experiences of those unusual times.
Lo Poloko’s mix of influences can suit local fiestas, private celebrations and events looking for Latin rhythms alongside rock and other styles. They offer an option for organisers seeking an alternative rock band with a sound of its own.
