Seven-piece acoustic band playing Dixieland, swing and soul for weddings, street parades, festivals and private events.
Leon Island Dixieland brings the sound of 1920s hot jazz to events with a seven-piece band. The acoustic format is particularly suited to wedding drinks receptions and banquets, and can also accompany street parades, festivals and private occasions.
The band features trumpet, trombone, tenor saxophone and clarinet, alongside tuba or sousaphone and percussion. Bass drum and washboard provide the characteristic Dixieland rhythm. No electrical equipment or mains connection is needed; the band simply requires space for the musicians.
The music draws on the New Orleans jazz tradition, with influences from classic jazz, swing and soul. The set includes arrangements of songs such as “Hello, Dolly!”, “Cabaret”, “Royal Garden Blues”, “That's a Plenty”, “South”, “St. James Infirmary”, “Lazy River”, “When the Saints Go Marching In”, “Indiana” and “Cantina Band”.
Consider the group for weddings, drinks receptions, banquets, street parades, festivals and private events where live acoustic music and a traditional sound are a good fit.
