Book King África: songs for dancing together

Booking King África is an option for a programme focused on dance music and audience participation. Argentine singer Alan Duffy is the voice associated with songs such as La Bomba, El Camaleón and Paquito el Chocolatero. His music combines Latin rhythms with simple choruses and dances that encourage people to move together.

If you are planning a community celebration, festival or private party, you can request availability through the booking form. Include the date, town or city and type of event, along with a description of the expected audience. Also explain where the performance would fit into your programme to make your enquiry specific.

King África biography

King África began as a musical project in Buenos Aires in 1992. Its first singer was Martin Laacré; Alan Duffy subsequently took over as vocalist. Before that, Duffy had sung rock in Mondatta, a tribute band to The Police. His performing career therefore predates the dance songs that brought him wider recognition in Spain.

Animal was his first album as King África's singer and included El Camaleón. During his early visits to Spain, the Canary Islands' carnivals played a prominent role: Duffy has recalled performances in Tenerife and Gran Canaria, as well as the song's presence at the islands' celebrations. This history places his connection with community festivities before La Bomba.

In 2000, his version of La Bomba became one of the hits of the Spanish summer. The song originated with Bolivian group Azul Azul. The release of La Bomba: King África Grandes Éxitos brought the project to a wider audience, and Duffy has explained that this period led to tours in Spain and other European countries, including Portugal, France, Italy and Germany.

His discography continued with Pachanga, released in 2001, Energía in 2002 and Buena Onda in 2003. Fiesta VIP followed in 2005 and included Paquito el Chocolatero. These releases trace different stages of a repertoire associated with dancing, beyond the song that defined his popularity at the beginning of the 2000s.

The King África show

Audience participation is central to the way King África describes his work. In interviews, he talks about easy-to-remember lyrics and simple dance steps, aiming to let people of different ages join in. His performance centres on singing and encouraging the audience to take part.

These songs provide reference points for exploring his musical career:

  • La Bomba: the version that brought him widespread attention in Spain in 2000.

  • El Camaleón: included on Animal and associated with his early appearances at Canary Islands carnivals.

  • El Humahuaqueño and Salta: featured on Pachanga, which expanded his dance music catalogue.

  • Paquito el Chocolatero: included on Fiesta VIP and also documented in his performances.

For your event, enquire about the available format and agree on the duration and how the performance fits into the schedule. If you are interested in a particular song, include it in your enquiry to ask about its possible inclusion. The final repertoire and performance arrangements should be defined for the proposed date.

King África at celebrations, fairs and events

His career includes performances in different settings. In 2024, he appeared at Mad Cool in Madrid and opened the concerts at Ceuta's fair at the Auditorio de la Marina. Coverage of the latter performance records songs such as Paquito el Chocolatero, El Camaleón and La Bomba, as well as interaction with the audience. His appearances at Love the 90s are also documented.

If you organise local patron saint festivities, a fair or a programme themed around music from the 1990s and 2000s, you can enquire whether his show suits your audience and schedule. For a wedding or company celebration, explain which part of the event you want to allocate to the performance and whether it would share the space with other activities.

Describe the venue, whether the performance would be outdoors or indoors and the expected attendance. To review production arrangements, provide the information available about the stage, sound and lighting. If you are still choosing a venue, identify any unresolved details and enquire about requirements before finalising the arrangements.
