Classical and modern guitar, solo or in a duo, with music ranging from Romantic dances to pop and rock.
Josep Manzano performs on guitar as a soloist or in a duo, making the format suitable for concerts, weddings, celebrations and corporate occasions. His musical range can centre on classical repertoire or take in more modern sounds. The duo option can pair him with Ferran Aran on piano; a piano and electric guitar set featuring blues and rock ’n’ roll is also possible.
The programme spans two centuries of music, from Romantic dances such as the waltz to popular songs, jazz and Latin American music. It can bring together familiar melodies from different periods, with room for a programme that is not restricted to classical music.
Composers include Tárrega, Ferrer and Falla, alongside jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt. The repertoire also draws on songs associated with Santana, Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder, as well as tangos, milongas, habaneras, samba and traditional pieces. Some of the music features on his four solo albums, including Recital Intim.
Born in Girona, Josep Manzano studied classical and modern guitar, graduating with top marks from the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona. He studied with Manuel González and received guidance from David Russell. He has performed and recorded for radio and television, both as a soloist and with chamber ensembles, and has played across Europe, the Americas and Asia. In 2014, the Villa de Aranda International Guitar Festival presented him with an artistic and professional recognition for his concert work and promotion of the guitar.
