A Badalona choir of around fifty singers, led by Gustavo Pol, performing gospel, soul, pop and rock with piano.
Gospel Sentits is a choir from Badalona led by Gustavo Pol. Around fifty singers perform alongside pianist Francesc d’Assís, bringing a lively gospel sound and an easy rapport with the audience.
The performance can involve guests through clapping, singing along and simple choreography. The group needs enough room for a large choir, plus space to set up sound equipment and an electric piano.
Their repertoire features contemporary gospel, African-American spirituals, soul and pop-rock, among other styles. Their influences include Kirk Franklin, Aretha Franklin, Queen and Leonard Cohen. Around Christmas, they adapt the set to include both traditional and contemporary carols.
Since starting in 2002, Gospel Sentits have performed around seventy concerts. Venues have included the Sagrada Família, the Palau de la Generalitat, Santa Maria del Mar, Teatre Zorrilla and Auditori de Tarragona. Their first CD, recorded in 2009, shared its name with the show En Clau de gòspel. In 2010, the Amics del Teatre Zorrilla awarded the group the Premi Guineueta for the show.
Their participatory format can work for weddings, public festivals, cultural programmes, private celebrations and corporate events. The seasonal carol selection is also suited to Christmas occasions.
