Barcelona band reworks familiar hits with soul, funk and fresh arrangements to get audiences singing and dancing.
Funky Souls are a five-piece band formed in Barcelona. They reshape familiar songs with soul and funk influences, bringing in other styles along the way. Their set is designed to get guests singing along and dancing, with arrangements that give well-known material a different feel.
Jordi Fabá is the singer and engages with the audience, encouraging even the more reserved guests to join in. He is joined by Ramón Cugat on guitar, Joan Solà-Morales on bass, Marc Thió on drums and Èlia Lucas on keyboards. The musicians bring years of training and experience to the band. They have played venues across Catalonia and periodically open the Jam session at Jazzsí.
The repertoire draws on artists including Amy Winehouse, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Prince and Earth, Wind & Fire. Songs in the set include “If I Ain't Got You”, “Creep”, “September” and “Rolling in the Deep”. Shifts in style and the band's arrangements add new character to popular songs.
The band suits weddings, parties and other occasions where guests can enjoy recognisable songs performed with a soul and funk edge. A power socket is required for the performance.
