Modern jazz in flexible line-ups, with standards, original pieces and music from film soundtracks.
Flexi-tune is a modern jazz group formed by musicians who met at the Higher Conservatory of Music in Pamplona. They play concerts and provide live music for events, with a considered sound and a repertoire that can suit the atmosphere of the occasion.
The core band features guitar, bass or double bass, and drums. From there, Flexi-tune can perform as a duo or trio, or add a wind player, piano or singer to the core line-up. This gives organisers options for understated reception music as well as a more prominent set for listening or dancing.
The group’s sound draws on modern jazz and cool jazz. Its repertoire includes standards, original compositions and film soundtrack music. Influences include Bill Evans, Miles Davis, John Scofield and Pat Metheny. The set can also feature pieces such as “Solar”, “Body and Soul”, “Nardis”, “The Girl from Ipanema” and “Cherokee”. The band regularly refreshes its selection.
Flexi-tune can provide background music, a set for focused listening, danceable jazz or a combination of these styles. It suits weddings, drinks receptions, corporate functions and private celebrations looking for live jazz. The technical set-up is straightforward, with instrument amplifiers and drums. A power supply and a chair or table to raise an amplifier are required.
