Catalan popular culture group offering correfocs, pyrotechnic shows, percussion, fire juggling and torch lighting.
Diables de Terrassa is a Catalan popular culture group focused on fire traditions. Its best-known format is the correfoc: a street performance in which the diables move with pyrotechnic devices while the audience joins in along the route. It can also be staged in a town square.
The correfoc uses carretilles and other pyrotechnic elements carried on forques and ceptrots. For different settings, the group can provide a pyrotechnic show ranging from a simple display to a combination of effects designed for the performance. It also stages fire drills in buildings such as churches, town halls, schools and markets.
Other options include firecrackers, curtains of fire, tabalades, batucadas, juggling and fire juggling, as well as torch lighting. Performers include diables, jugglers and percussionists, and audiences can interact with the show.
The group has performed in Catalonia, elsewhere in Spain and abroad. It has taken part in Diables de Catalunya gatherings and sponsored groups including La Pájara de Terrassa, Diables Carranquers and Diables de Tordera. Its performances bring fire traditions together with inventive stage elements.
