Chico Pere presents contemporary flamenco rooted in tradition and shaped by influences from other styles. Born in Triana, the singer and songwriter leads a project with a distinctive sound that can be tailored to the size and requirements of each performance.
The full band brings together lead vocals, two guitars, percussion, wind instruments and backing vocals. The show can also be performed solo or with guitar, or arranged with guitar and percussion. Bass or drums can be added to expand the line-up according to the event.
The music pairs flamenco guitar with blues- and jazz-influenced winds, soul-tinged backing vocals and original compositions. Traditional flamenco features in the set, while covers are generally performed when requested by the audience. Repertoire may include tracks from Calaita Flamenco Son and Las cosas del buen son, unreleased songs and, on request, familiar contemporary flamenco numbers.
Chico Pere has performed his music across parts of Europe and the UK, and wrote and composed the songs on his two releases. His career also includes collaborations and appearances at music venues and tribute events.
This is a fitting choice for weddings, festivals, cultural events, private parties and corporate gatherings looking for flamenco with blues and jazz colours. The line-up can be agreed to suit the venue and event. The organiser usually provides the sound system.
