A Catalan fire figure with 16 points of fire, accompanied by percussion and shawms for public celebrations.
Borinot de foc del Vendrell is a fire figure rooted in Catalan festive culture, created by the group’s own members. Its street performance brings together pyrotechnics, music and a lively celebratory atmosphere.
Two bearers guide the figure, which has 16 points of fire. A percussion and shawms ensemble accompanies it, adding live music to the performance. The figure has an iron frame and a fibreglass shell. It is approximately three metres long, 1.4 metres wide and 1.85 metres high, and weighs around 80 kilos.
Fire and music come together in a performance connected with Catalan festive traditions. It can suit patron saint festivals, community celebrations and other events looking for a pyrotechnic figure accompanied by musicians.
The Borinot first appeared on 4 June 2011 on the Rambla del Vendrell, where it was christened by its godfather, the Barcelona dragon Gaudiamus.
