Batucada Gurús brings Afro-Brazilian percussion, dance, colour and movement to parties and events.
Batucada Gurús is an Afro-Brazilian percussion group associated with the Gurús Sociocultural Association and its percussion school. Led by David Melero, the ensemble brings together performers who have trained in the school’s rhythms and musical culture.
The performance draws on samba, samba-reggae, samba-afro, funky and Candomblé. Percussion is paired with dance, costumes and movement for a lively ensemble show. Its influences include Brazilian groups such as Olodum, Timbalada and Ilê Aiyê, as well as batucada groups from Spain and Brazil.
The association began with young people passionate about Afro-Brazilian music and has members and branches in Aranda de Duero, Burgos, Salas de los Infantes and Palacios de la Sierra. Its school provides ongoing percussion training, with students able to progress into the group.
Book the batucada for town festivals, street parades, private celebrations and corporate events that call for live percussion and a strong visual presence. For summer performances, a shaded area is required.
