Ángeles Ruibal performs poetry and songs by Spanish and Latin American writers, accompanied by guitar.
Book Ángeles Ruibal for a poetry and song concert
Ángeles Ruibal’s performance brings music together with poetry from Spain and Latin America. She was the voice of Dúo Los Juglares, whose work set poems by Federico García Lorca, Miguel Hernández, Mario Benedetti, Rosalía de Castro, Nicolás Guillén and other writers to music. She performs with a guitarist.
Poets and singer-songwriter material
The concert also draws on poems and songs by Atahualpa Yupanqui, including pieces set to music by Ruibal herself. It combines sung poetry and singer-songwriter repertoire in a format that gives the lyrics and vocals room to come through. She has performed at cultural centres and theatres in Spain and Argentina.
Her career has included sharing stages with Mercedes Sosa, Les Luthiers, Opus Cuatro and the Porteña Jazz Band, among others. She also helped Ana Belén prepare La paloma del vuelo popular, a double album based on poems by Nicolás Guillén, and contributed to its compositions.
Suitable events and technical requirements
With poetry-led songs and a voice-and-guitar format, the concert can suit cultural events, music programmes, theatres, private celebrations and corporate occasions where attentive listening is welcome. The technical set-up requires two microphones: one for the singer and one for the guitarist. Ruibal performs across Spain, European countries and Argentina.
